Last weekend I did my first duathlon or "Splash & Dash". It's a race where you swim then run. I was really excited because I am doing a triathlon in March and it's a good way to practice my transitions from event to another. This particular event was in Tucson and is known as the Polar Splash & Dash and it was. I was really excited for this event until that morning when I awoke to rain, not just any rain, but pouring rain! One thing I always hated about Tucson was that when it rains, it floods. No really, streets get closed frequently during monsoon season. Anyways, I sucked it up and swam then splashed through some puddles. It was a good time, and I'm glad that I did it.
The swim. The water was actually 80 degrees and felt amazing. It was an 825 meter swim.
Transitioning from the swim to run. Don't ask me why I kept my shoes and clothes in the locker room, because they didn't stay dry for long.
Holy crap! This weather is ridiculous. That's what the nose flarage translates into. Hahaha.
I cannot put the words 'Polar' and 'Tuscon' together. Thank goodness for the rain. Also, someday, I, like you, will be able to post a picture of myself running in a swimsuit. Maybe in the next life, but someday.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! Good job! I think triathalons are my favorite. It's a lot to train for but it really gets your body in great shape!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. I wish I were as driven as you are. I try to love running, but I just can't get there. And yes we definatly have to get together sometime.
